I am very curious to see whether Facebook continues to update and advance this app because I think it can be a really great way to ease kids into the communication and connection world.
With cell phones, anyone in the world is able to call your child, but with Facebook Messenger for Kids, there is someone who is constantly monitoring communication. I also think that this is a better alternative to children having cell phones and the ability to call. Conversations and having the ability to communicate with others over messaging could even be useful in an emergency. Communicating online can not be avoided as we continue to enhance technology and children must be taught the proper way to converse. Ultimately, this type of app I believe is the perfect way to begin to show kids what it is really like in the real world of technology. Parents also can delete a connection they may not feel is appropriate and the child will not have the ability to re-connect with the user. Even when the child blocks or reports a contact, the parents are immediately informed with a notification. They also make sure that parents are present when setting up the application. Facebook wants concerned parents and users to remember that the kids essentially have no control without parent consent. However parents were concerned about who their kids will be talking or video chatting with. Mostly, families thought it was a great idea for children to be able to connect with friends and family creating a sense of community.
